Cottage Rental Questions

  1. What time is check-in?
  2. Check-in is from 4:00 pm until close (5:00 pm) Eastern Standard Time. Check-in on Sundays is from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Please do not attempt to check in early. Early check-in requests must be made in advance but cannot always be accommodated. Additional charges associated with early check-ins will be billed to your credit card. Our office hours are seasonal, so please check with guest services before you arrive. If you will be arriving after hours, please contact our office to make late arrival arrangements.

  3. What time is check-out?
  4. Check-out time is 11:00 am.

  5. Are linens provided?
  6. Yes. Each cottage provides bedding (sheets, pillows and coverlets) and toweling. Guests planning to use trundle beds should contact guest services in advance to arrange for additional bedding (a $10 fee is charged for each trundle sheet set). Each bathroom offers two large cotton bath towels, two hand towels, two wash cloths, and one bath mat. Guests are encouraged to bring extra towels with them if they would like additional beach towels to use for the lake, pool, or hot tub, or if they are staying for an extended period of time and do not wish to wash their towels. As an environmentally-conscious resort, we do not provide daily towel service.

  7. Are the cottage kitchens equipped for cooking?
  8. Yes. Our cottage kitchens feature modern appliances: dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, stove, toaster, and 12 cup coffee maker. Each cottage has service for 6-8 people as well as sauce pans, skillet, stock pot, baking sheet, mixing bowls, strainer, small cutting board, basic cooking utensils, can opener, ice cream scoop, and cork screw. Upon check-in cottages are equipped with 1 roll of paper towels, 1 dishwasher tab, 1 small liquid dish soap, a sponge, 2 garbage bags, 1 regular and 1 decaffeinated coffee, and two coffee condiment packets. Additional condiment and housekeeping items can be purchased through guest services. Guests staying for an extended period of time or those with large numbers in their party may need to replenish these consumable items at their own expense during their stay.

  9. Does each cottage have its own hot tub?
  10. Yes. Each of our cottages feature a hot tub on the rear deck or patio. To ensure that your hot tub is ready and waiting for you, hot tub temperatures and settings are preset before you arrive. During cooler months hot tubs are set at approximately 104 degrees and, during the summer months, at approximately 100 degrees. Hot tub instruction cards are included in your welcome packet. If you have any questions about the settings of your hot tub after you arrive, please contact guest services.

  11. Is there a place to grill?
  12. Yes. We provide a park-like setting with two park charcoal grills, picnic tables, and a playground area. Some cottages are equipped with private grills. Charcoal, BBQ utensils, and lighter fluid
    are not provided.

  13. Do the gas fireplaces work all year?
  14. No. During the warmer months, March 31st through October 30th, the gas fireplaces are not operable to conserve energy. After October 30th, fireplace tanks are filled by the propane provider only one day per week. If a fireplace is crucial to your stay, please advise when making the reservation; otherwise the fireplace may not be operable during your stay.

  15. Are there washers and dryers in the cottages?
  16. Yes. Each cottage is equipped with a stacked washer and dryer. Laundry detergent is not provided. Guests are encouraged to bring detergent with them if necessary. Laundry detergent can also be purchased through guest services. We do not provide outside laundering services.

  17. Are the cottages near the lake?
  18. Yes. Edgewater Resort is located on a scenic peninsula that extends out into Taylorsville Lake and is surrounded by the lake on three sides. The lake can be accessed via hiking trails. We also offer a natural area of cleared lake shore where guests can fish or wade into the lake for swimming.

  19. Are basic toiletries provided in the cottages?
  20. Yes. Each cottage bathroom offers individual size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, as well as a small bar of Edgewater’s signature soap. Upon check-in, cottages are equipped with 1-2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom. Additional toilet paper may be purchased through guest services. Guests staying for an extended period of time or those with large numbers in their party may need to replenish these consumable items at their own expense during their stay.

  21. Will housekeeping come in while we are away?
  22. No. To respect our guests’ privacy, housekeeping does not come in during your stay.

  23. Can I park my boat at the cottage?
  24. No. Unfortunately, during high levels of occupancy all boats must be parked at our office’s parking area. Please make advance arrangements with guest services to secure a parking space. As an alternative, Taylorsville Marina offers daily boat slip rentals.

  25. Can I have visitors during the day while I am a guest?
  26. All guests must be authorized with Guest Services in advance. Each cottage provides parking for up to 2 cars. Any additional vehicles must be parked at the front office and may not enter past the gate.

  27. Are pets allowed in the cottages?
  28. Yes,but only in select pet-friendly cottages. We currently offer 2 two-bedroom and 1 three-bedroom pet-friendly cottages. A maximum of 2 small dogs are allowed. Cats are not permitted. Pet-friendly reservations must be made in advance and authorized by guest services. Additional cleaning fees associated with pet-friendly reservations will be billed to your credit card. Please be aware that guests are responsible for any damages to the cottage and its contents made by pets, and damage charges will be billed to your credit card. Unauthorized pets are not permitted. If evidence of unauthorized pets is discovered during or after your stay, additional charges will be applied to your credit card, and you will be asked to leave the resort without a refund.

  29. Is smoking allowed in the cottages?
  30. No. Smoking is not permitted in any cottage. If evidence of smoking is discovered during or after your stay, additional charges will be applied to your credit card. Outdoor ashtrays are provided upon request. Please contact guest services if you require an outdoor ashtray during your stay.

  31. Is there a grocery store nearby?
  32. Yes. Taylorsville Country Mart & Deli is less than 5 miles from Edgewater Resort.
